The “Day of the Dead” Celebration believes that on every 2nd of November, the gateway between Mictlan, the ancient Aztec Land of the Dead, and our world opens so we may celebrate with our lost loved ones for one special time of year. Now the Ninth Annual Florida “Day of the Dead” introduces “Night of the Dead” which takes the celebration to a whole new level the following day and creates an exciting atmosphere of music and dance.
Following a packed summer featuring the band’s debut at Red Rocks Amphitheater and their seventh annual Dark Star Jubilee festival, Dark Star Orchestra announces today their plans to end 2018 with a four-date Cosmic New Year’s tour, ringing in 2019 at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ. These dates announced today pair with the band’s 16-date, second-leg of their Fall Tour.
This weekend the John Kadlecik Band celebrates Jerry Garcia's birthday with a couple of shows: tonight at the Hamilton in Washington, DC, and Saturday at Bear's Picnic Music Festival in Blain, PA! This JKB run will feature Jay Lane, Benjie Porecki, and Wavy Dave and will be putting extra focus on the music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. Fresh off the heels of their Fall Tour announcement, Dark Star Orchestra today confirms details of their 7th annual Jamaican Jam In The Sand festival returning to the Jewel Paradise Cove Resort and Spa in Runaway Bay, Jamaica on January 15-19, 2019. The nights will be spent under the stars with Dark Star Orchestra, performing a full two-set show on the beach each of the four nights!
Hosting the musical memory of one of the Grateful Dead’s most beloved, historic shows, Dark Star Orchestra has pledged to recreate the July 8, 1978 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater at the iconic venue 40 years to the day of its original performance. The band announces today that original Grateful Dead member Donna Jean Godchaux will be making a guest appearance on stage with the band at the upcoming July 8 performance.
Dark Star Orchestra is holding their seventh annual Dark Star Jubilee festival this coming Memorial Day May 25-27 at the venue which is now known as Legend Valley, in Thornville, Ohio. Back in 1993, it was known as Buckeye Lake Music Center, and on June 11, the Grateful Dead rolled into town. Nearly 25 years to the date, and at the same location, Dark Star Orchestra will be recreating the original band’s historic set during one of the night at The Jubilee in a rare, advanced announcement for the band to confirm a show they’re playing.
